OCB Battle of the Godz

NOVEMBER 21, 2020 - CRANSTON, RI

OCB Battle of the Godz (Pro Qualifier)

First, let me start with the good news, the show will go on! Now onto theother news, due to Covid there will be some changes and alterations. The entire event will be held at the Host Hotel, The Hilton Garden Inn located at 1 Thuber St Warwick RI. There is a special room rate of $90 a night, Friday and Saturday, so use the link below if you need or elect to rent a room. Check-in and polygraphs will be conducted at the Hilton Garden on Friday from 9am - 6pm. There will be NO late check-ins.

Here is where the changes come in. The original venue, and all other theaters or schools, are precluded from allowing any bookings through February of 2021. Other States, CT and MA, are also doing the same. This limited availability to conference centers; however, there is currently a 25 person maximum for all gatherings in RI (as well as most of the surrounding states) and this required some creativity to pull off the event. So this is how it will progress:

* The show will be held in one of the conference rooms at the hotel.

Unless there are changes to the maximum meeting requirements there will be no audience.

*There will be a ready room, max occupants 25, and the hall where you will be judged, 25 maximum.

*The show will be segmented, meaning by division you will have a report time, do not come early.

*Everything will be done in one sitting, judging, scoring and awards.

*There will not be an option for posing routines or stage walks, each competitor will be allowed to preform 8-10 photos for the photographer in numeric order and that will be in place of the standard routine. (masks may be removed at this point for better quality photos)

*Once you receive your awards (Neils Anderson trophies) you are dismissed unless you will be required to present a urine sample.

*There will be limited space, no makeup rooms, tanning rooms pump up equipment etc. just a waiting area and a judging room.

*There will be a proper stage backdrop and lighting so photos should come out very well.

*Masks will be warn, except for the individual posing.

*There is a professional photographer on site, BUT if space allows I can let a competitor bring in a coach or friend to take photos and then exit.

*The maximum occupants include everyone, so coaches have a plan for you clients if you cannot be in the room with them. Competitors and staff have priority.

The makeup artist and tanner will be able to do tans/touch-ups and makeup at the hotel. That way you can come in and get a tan (if you use the service), then the makeup (again if desired) and then into the assembly area before being brought to the judging room. All rooms are collocated so there is very little movement. You are not required to rent a room at the hotel, but be aware that due to the circumstances you will not have space to apply tans etc. before going on stage so you will want to come to the venue prepared. I will be sending out the times and schedules as the show gets closer so until I know the actual number of competitors I will not be able to answer the questions on start/end times etc.

I know this is a strange way to hold an event, but we need a win in this sport, particularly in New England and for our pros and this is the only way to maintain compliance with the various requirements and still give you all a place to compete. There will be no changes in judging standards or format, just the elimination of the routine and audience. What you will have is a fairly judged event with good lighting and high level competition where you will compete for a high pro prize (if you're a pro) and a nice Neils Anderson Award and the photographer will capture some great photos.

Hopefully by the middle of next year we can be back to normal and the 2021 event will be back at the usual venue with a huge crowd, but for now this will have to be a "normal" until we can get on the other side of this pandemic.

Guidelines

Please review the guidelines for the OCB here OCBonline.com. It is also recommended that coaches and athletes take the time to review the photos of past shows to see how the criteria for each division is applied. It is the combination of the criteria and the application that will help you best prepare your physique for the competition.
